hold fast to dreams...
I just wanted to get in a tumblr post saying,
in the words of the goddess DVF,
“The most important relationship you have in your life is the relationship you have with yourself. Because no matter what happens, you will always be with yourself.”
Don’t bother comparing yourself to other people or chasing after a dream that isn’t yours or using someone else’s standard of success as your own. A family friend recently graduated from college and she’s constantly been talked about by my parents as an amazing role model… and she is. She is incredibly smart and she’s going to UC Berkeley as a PhD candidate. But once I started college and started being on my own and creating my own attainable goals, I became much more fulfilled and happier, and it made me realize that the relationship I had with myself before was built on my parent’s expectations of me, much of which depended on their observations of other people.
So, in short, be happy with the person you hope to become and don’t ever stop reaching for the stars.
